Make Your Own CBD Massage Oil, Using Isolate CBD Oil Online
Today we’re going to show you how to make your very own homemade CBD massage oil! Whether it’s for that someone special, a family member who suffers from muscle pain, or maybe as a thoughtful gift idea, this simple recipe is going to take your massages to another dimension –and someone is going to be very, very lucky!
I’m New to CBD, What Is It?
If you’re already familiar with CBD, skip to the next header. For newcomers, though, cannabidiol, known as CBD for short, is a beneficial compound derived from hemp or marijuana plants. It’s known for its diverse potential for improving health in both humans and animals, is highly safe, and doesn’t produce the harsh side effects of traditional medications. While cannabis plants are typically associated with producing a ‘high’, CBD oil has no psychoactive effects at all.
Why CBD Massage Oil?
First up, why add CBD to massage oil, when massage oil already makes massages smoother and more relaxing? It comes down to the researched benefits CBD oil has been shown to have, and how a few of these tie in PERFECTLY with what a good massage should achieve! Namely:
- Relieving anxiety and stress
- Relieving pain
- Relieving inflammation
Are these not the exact same goals you have when getting, or giving, a massage? Makes sense, right?! This is why CBD massage oil really takes massages to another level.
Second, why are we suggesting using isolate CBD oil online? Well, you could also use full spectrum CBD oil, which has some benefits over isolate CBD oil in terms of additional cannabinoids and terpenes, but isolate CBD oil is THC-free –and this might be important to the person you are massaging. (It’s THC that company drug tests, or roadside drug tests, look for.)
Will I Still Get the Benefits of CBD If I Don’t Consume it?
Absolutely, yes. Cannabis oils are obtained by extracting various cannabinoids such as CBD or THC. This works through what is known as decarboxylation. The cannabinoids can be extracted from the plant using heat or other solvents, then they are mixed with a carrier oil. Why? Cannabinoids are lipophilic: they can be better absorbed by the human or animal organism by adding fat, whether you drink it, or rub it on your skin.
CBD Massage Oil Recipe
Without further ado, here it is:
- ¼ cup of carrier oil (coconut oil, jojoba oil, almond oil or even olive oil)
- CBD isolate oil online
- Up to 12 drops of different essential oils (sandalwood, orange, bergamot, lavender, tea tree or peppermint oil)
- Double boiler (or a pot and metal bowl will do…You can use a glass bowl, but be careful –the glass could crack if it gets too hot)
- Dark glass jar/container/bottle to store it in once it’s made
Important: 1mg CBD isolate corresponds to 1 mg CBD in the massage oil, so consider how much CBD you would like to add. You can use our dosage guide to help you figure this out.
- Add the carrier oil, essential oils, and CBD isolate oil to the double boiler over low heat. If you don’t have a double boiler, place the oils in an aluminium (or glass) bowl, then place that bowl carefully in the hottish water in the pot. But make sure you do not get any water inside the bowl which has the oils in it.
Basically, it’s the same process you’d use for melting chocolate for a chocolate cake! You do not want to get any water gets inside the bowl that has the oils heating in them!!
- Stir until everything until they are well mixed.
- Take the CBD massage oil off the stove and let it cool down a bit before transferring it to the dark glass jar for storage. That’s it!
Just remember to always shake the oil well before use.
What’s the Best Way to Store Homemade CBD Massage Oil?
Since your homemade CBD massage oil does not contain any preservatives, it should be used up within about three months, otherwise it can go rancid.
The shelf life can be extended if the CBD massage oil is stored in the refrigerator.
Some carrier oils, such as coconut oil, can also solidify at colder room temperatures. If that happens, simply heat the massage oil in the sealed bottle in a water bath (like when you made it), or briefly warm it up between your hands before pampering someone very lucky with it.
